Highlight and Share
The Highlight and Share integration tracks social share clicks as conversions. When a visitor shares your content through any of the social networks provided by the Highlight and Share plugin, Conversion Bridge sends that event to all your connected analytics and ad platforms.
Overview
Highlight and Share lets visitors share content by highlighting text or clicking share buttons on your posts and pages. With this integration enabled, every share click is tracked as a conversion event. The event includes which social network was used and the type of share, so you can see exactly how your content is being shared.
Setup Instructions
- In your WordPress admin, go to Settings > Conversion Bridge > Integrations.
- Find Highlight and Share in the list of available integrations.
- Enable the integration by clicking the toggle.
- Enable Track social shares to start tracking share clicks.
- Optionally customize the Share label (default: "Share"). You can use the
%network%and%type%placeholders in your label -- see Custom Event Labels below. - Click Save Changes.
How It Works
When a visitor clicks a share button or uses the highlight-to-share feature on your site, Conversion Bridge picks up the share event and sends it to your connected platforms. Each share event captures the social network the visitor chose (like Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn) and the type of share (such as a highlight share or a button click).
The tracking happens on the page in real time. There's no delay and nothing extra for the visitor to do. Every share click across your entire site is tracked automatically once the integration is enabled.
Tracked Data
Every event includes a conversion label and conversion value.
Share events also include:
method-- The social network used for the share (e.g., Twitter, Facebook)content_type-- The type of share that was triggered
This data is sent to your connected platforms and can be used in enhanced conversions reporting to understand which networks and share types drive the most engagement.
Custom Event Labels
You can customize the share event label in the integration settings under Share label. The default label is "Share".
Two placeholders are available for dynamic labels:
%network%-- Replaced with the name of the social network (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)%type%-- Replaced with the share type (e.g., highlight, click)
For example, setting the label to %network% share (%type%) would produce labels like "Twitter share (highlight)" or "Facebook share (click)" in your analytics reports. This makes it easy to filter and compare share activity across different networks and share types.
