Download Monitor Integration
Conversion Bridge tracks file downloads from the Download Monitor plugin as conversions. Tracking is configured on a per-download basis — you choose which downloads to track and can set a custom label and value for each one.
Setting Up Conversion Tracking
- In your WordPress admin, go to Settings > Conversion Bridge > Integrations and enable Download Monitor.
- Go to Downloads in your WordPress admin and edit the download you want to track.
- In the Conversion Tracking metabox on the right side of the editor, check Enable Conversion Tracking.
- Optionally enter a custom Conversion Tracking Label and Conversion Tracking Value.
- Click Update to save the download.
Repeat for each download you want to track.
How It Works
When a visitor clicks the download button for a tracked Download Monitor file, a file download conversion is sent to all your connected analytics and ad platforms. The event fires when the download is triggered, so you get accurate tracking even if the download is gated behind access controls or redirects.
Tracked Data
Every event includes a conversion label and conversion value.
File download events include:
id— The download IDtitle— The download titlefile— The filename of the current version
Custom Event Labels
You can customize the conversion label for each download in the Conversion Tracking metabox. The following placeholders are available:
%title%— Replaced with the download's title%id%— Replaced with the download's ID
For example, a label of Downloaded: %title% for a download titled "Product Brochure" would be tracked as "Downloaded: Product Brochure".
If no custom label is set, the default label is "Download".
Platform-Specific Fields
Some ad platforms (like Google Ads) require their own conversion identifiers. When these platforms are enabled in Conversion Bridge, additional fields appear in the Conversion Tracking metabox for each download. Enter the platform-specific conversion ID or label to ensure proper attributionThe process of determining which channels, campaigns, or actions contributed to a conversion, helping you understand what influenced a visitor’s decision to take action..
