Awin

Awin is an affiliate network. Publishers, bloggers, and creators promote your products, and you pay them a commission when their referrals turn into sales or leads. For that to work, Awin has to know when a referral actually converts. Conversion Bridge reports those conversions for you, so your affiliates get credited correctly and you only pay for results that really happened.

Setting Up Awin Tracking

  1. Log in to your Awin advertiser account
  2. Find your Advertiser ID, the number Awin uses to identify your program
  3. Paste it into the Advertiser ID field in Settings → Conversion Bridge → Platforms
  4. Click Save Changes to start reporting conversions

Conversion Bridge adds Awin's tracking code to your site and reports each qualifying conversion automatically. You don't need to add anything to your thank-you page.

Sales and Leads

Awin pays affiliates two different ways, and Conversion Bridge reports them differently.

A sale is a purchase or a donation that has a value. Conversion Bridge reports the order total after any discounts, but not including tax or shipping. That is what Awin expects, because commission is normally paid on the value of the goods rather than on what you collect for postage and tax. A purchase that somehow arrives without an amount is not reported at all, since Awin would have nothing to pay commission on.

A lead is a form submission, a registration, a subscribe, or a trial. Leads are only reported if you turn on the Lead Tracking setting. Most Awin programs pay on sales only, so this is off by default. Turn it on only if your program actually pays per lead, otherwise you will be sending Awin conversions it has no commission rule for.

Because a lead has no order value, you tell Awin what each one is worth using the Lead Amount setting. Every lead is reported at that same flat amount in your site's currency. The default is 1.00.

Bookings are handled based on whether money is involved. A booking with a value is reported as a sale. A booking without one is treated as a lead.

Anything else, like a page view or a button click, is never sent. Awin only cares about conversions it might owe commission on.

Server-to-Server Tracking

Ad blockers and browser privacy settings can stop tracking code from running, which means a genuine sale can go unreported and an affiliate never gets paid for it.

To prevent that, Conversion Bridge also reports each sale directly from your server. That copy never touches the visitor's browser, so nothing can block it.

Awin receives both copies and matches them up using the order reference, so the sale is only counted once and your affiliate is only paid once. Because the match relies on that reference, server-to-server reporting only happens for conversions that have an order number. Leads without one are deliberately left out rather than risk being double counted.

This all happens on its own once your Advertiser ID is saved. There is nothing to configure.

Commission Groups

Some Awin programs pay different commission rates for different kinds of products, using what Awin calls commission groups.

If your program uses them, put the right code in the Commission Group setting. If it doesn't, leave it as DEFAULT.

When Lead Tracking is on, leads get their own Lead Commission Group, which defaults to LEAD. This keeps your lead payouts separate from your sale payouts in Awin's reporting.

Test Mode

Test Mode marks everything Conversion Bridge reports as a test transaction. Awin records it so you can confirm your setup is working, but no commission is paid and it stays out of your real reporting.

Turn it off before you go live. If you leave it on, none of your real sales will count.

Privacy

Awin receives no personal information from Conversion Bridge. No email addresses, no names, no phone numbers, nothing that identifies the customer. It only receives the order details it needs to pay the right affiliate: the amount, the currency, the order reference, and the click identifier that shows which affiliate sent the visitor.

Awin also respects your visitors' consent choices. When you use a cookie banner, Conversion Bridge tells Awin whether the visitor agreed to marketing tracking, and Awin holds off until they do.
