Google Tag Manager Alternative

A simpler way to track conversions without Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is powerful, but setting up conversion tracking with it takes real work. Conversion Bridge connects WordPress straight to your analytics and ad platforms, so most sites never need GTM at all.

The Difference

One extra layer, or none at all

GTM sits in the middle. Your site pushes data to it, then you build the triggers and tags that forward each event to each platform. Conversion Bridge removes that middle step and sends the data directly, already formatted the way each platform expects.

One connection. Every platform, formatted automatically.

Side by side

Setting up tracking the two ways

With Google Tag Manager

Learn the GTM model first

Triggers, tags, variables, and the dataLayer. There's a real learning curve before you track a single conversion.

Build a tag for every event

Each conversion you want needs its own custom trigger and tag, and you repeat that work for every platform you send it to.

Map the data by hand

A purchase or a Meta Pixel event still needs its values mapped into the exact format each platform expects. GTM won't do that for you.

Maintain it over time

When a plugin changes or you add a platform, you head back into the container to fix triggers and re-test in preview mode.

With Conversion Bridge

Paste your tracking IDs

Drop in your GA4, Meta, or Google Ads ID. That's the setup. No container, no data layer to learn.

Toggle on your plugins

WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, MemberPress, and more. Flip a switch and their events start tracking everywhere you connected.

Data formatted for you

Each event arrives in the shape every platform needs, including full ecommerce details and enhanced conversion data.

Stays working on its own

Integrations are maintained for you. Add a platform later and your existing events flow to it without rebuilding anything.

The Part People Miss

GTM gets the event there. You still wire up the data.

Dropping a tag into GTM is only half the job. Every platform wants conversion data in its own shape, and connecting those values is on you.

The Meta Pixel example

Say you want to track purchases in Meta through GTM. You create the trigger, add a Meta tag, then map each value by hand: the event name Meta expects, the order total, the currency, and the hashed customer details for enhanced matching. Miss a field and your conversions show up incomplete or not at all.

Conversion Bridge's direct Meta integration already knows that mapping. You enter your Pixel ID, turn on your store, and purchases arrive formatted exactly how Meta needs them, hashing included.

Being Fair

When Google Tag Manager is still the right call

GTM is a capable tool, and Conversion Bridge works alongside it when you need it. A few cases where it still earns its place:

An ad-blocker-heavy audience

If your visitors skew technical, more of them block trackers, and Safari already limits tracking on its own. Pairing GTM with server-side tagging or Google's tag gateway serves data from your own domain and holds up better in those conditions. It takes setup and upkeep, but for the right audience it can be worth it.

Tags Conversion Bridge doesn't cover

If you need a third-party script or a niche tag that isn't one of the supported platforms, GTM is a reasonable home for it. Conversion Bridge can still hand consent signals to GTM through Consent Mode v2.

Sites beyond WordPress

Conversion Bridge is built for WordPress. If you manage tracking across other platforms too, a tag manager gives you one shared place for all of them.

Common questions

Yes. You can run both. Many sites let Conversion Bridge handle their analytics and ad platform conversions directly, and keep GTM for a few third-party tags it manages. Conversion Bridge can also forward visitor consent to GTM through Google Consent Mode v2.

GTM is free, but your time is not. With GTM you build and maintain a trigger and a tag for every event on every platform, then map the data into each one's format yourself. Conversion Bridge does that work for you and keeps the integrations updated as platforms change. You are paying to skip the setup, the upkeep, and the missed conversions that come from a mapping mistake. For most site owners that pays for itself quickly, in saved hours or a developer bill you never have to cover.

For most WordPress sites, yes. If all you use GTM for is Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, and similar platforms, Conversion Bridge connects to them directly and tracks your conversions without a container. GTM still helps when you need to manage tags it does not support.

With GTM you build a trigger and a tag for each event, then map the data into the format every platform expects. Conversion Bridge already knows those formats. You paste your tracking IDs, switch on your plugins, and your conversions flow to each platform correctly. That saves the setup time and the ongoing maintenance.

If you use a supported consent banner, Conversion Bridge handles consent for you. When you do keep GTM in the mix, Conversion Bridge forwards consent decisions to it using Consent Mode v2, so your Google tags receive the right signals without extra wiring.

Yes. For platforms that accept it, Conversion Bridge securely hashes first-party customer data such as email and phone and sends it with the conversion. In GTM you would map and hash those fields yourself for each tag.
