I had a great time joining Chris Badgett on LMSCast, where we dove into conversion tracking, analytics, and how course creators, coaches, and online business owners can better understand what’s actually working on their websites.

Chris and I talked through the basics—what a conversion really is (hint: it’s just someone doing something you care about), and why it’s more than just sales. Newsletter signups, form submissions, button clicks, course enrollments—they all count. And for online course sites built with LifterLMS or other tools, knowing which of these actions lead to paying customers is incredibly valuable.

We also explored how tracking funnels—the steps people take before they buy or sign up—can help you figure out where your site is helping or hurting conversions. For example, if lots of people visit your landing page but never click the download link for your free lead magnet, something on that page might need tweaking.

That naturally led us into a conversation about Conversion Bridge. Chris asked a key question: “Do I have to use Google Analytics if I’m running Google Ads?” Nope. With Conversion Bridge, you can track ad conversions without being locked into GA4—and still pass conversion data back to platforms like Google Ads or Meta.

One of my favorite parts of the chat was when we got into the practical side of conversion rate optimization (CRO). Small changes—like adjusting copy, moving a button, or rewriting a headline—can lead to big improvements, but only if you’re tracking what matters. We talked about A/B testing too (yes, it’s still doable in WordPress!) and how just watching the numbers over time can help you make smarter decisions without fancy tools.

We also got into:

  • Why privacy-focused analytics platforms can reduce the need for cookie banners
  • How Conversion Bridge works without writing any code (just toggle what you want)
  • Why tracking conversion journeys gives deeper insight than just final outcomes
  • How to assign value to non-purchase conversions, like email signups
  • And how busy, non-technical site owners can still take control of their analytics

If you’re building or running an LMS site, coaching business, or any kind of high-value training platform, I think this episode will give you a solid foundation for understanding your data—and how to turn it into action.
