External ID for Enhanced Conversions
Some ad platforms support sending a unique identifier for the user performing an action on your site. This is often referred to as the External ID.
When a user is logged in and you’ve enabled Enhanced Conversions for your ad platform in Conversion Bridge, we pass the logged-in user’s details to the platform. The External ID is one of those details, and it can be used to match site actions to users you’ve uploaded into your ad manager for audience targeting or conversion tracking.
Conversion Bridge now lets you choose which piece of a user’s data is sent as the External ID:
- User ID – The numerical WordPress ID for the user (e.g., 42) [Default option]
- User Login – The user’s WordPress username/login
- User Email – The user’s email address in WordPress
Choosing the right option lets you align with the identifiers in your ad platform’s customer lists. For example, if you upload a list of emails into your ad platform, selecting User Email as your External ID will make it easier for the platform to match actions to those users.
This can be set in your WordPress Admin > Conversion Bridge > Options.
