Microsoft Clarity is a free tool from Microsoft that helps you understand how people use your website by recording what visitors do on your site. Clarity captures details like where users click, how far they scroll, where they move their mouse and much more. This information is shown as session recordings and heatmaps. Session recordings let you watch a visitor’s path through your site, while heatmaps highlight the areas that get the most attention. Because Clarity collects data automatically, you can see patterns of behavior without needing to set up many custom events.

Clarity helps you see which parts of your site work well and which parts might need improvement. You can spot pages where visitors get confused or lose interest, and then make changes to improve the user experience. The tool is designed to be simple and easy to use so that even those with basic web knowledge can benefit from the insights it provides.

How Conversion Bridge Works with Clarity

Clarity is a bit different than our other analytics platform integrations and does not have a "conversion tracking" system available. Instead of tracking"conversions", it focuses on tagging your visitors. When someone takes an important action on your site—like filling out a form or making a purchase—Conversion Bridge adds a tag to that visitor's session. These tags act like labels, such as "form_submit" or "purchase," which make it easier to organize and find specific session recordings later.

Using these tags, you can quickly filter the recorded sessions in Clarity to see only the ones that match the actions you care about. This helps you focus on important behaviors without getting lost in all the data. By tagging visitors, Conversion Bridge adds an extra layer of organization, making it simple to review how different actions affect the way users interact with your website.

The integration between Conversion Bridge and Microsoft Clarity gives you a clear view of user behavior. Clarity provides a detailed look at how visitors interact with your site, while Conversion Bridge makes it easier to sort and analyze those interactions based on key actions. Together, they help you see what works best on your website and where you can make changes for better results.

Cookie Banner Integration

In Clarity's configuration, you can set up your project so it does not set any cookies until the user gives approval. If you have configured Conversion Bridge to work with one of the integrated cookie banners, it will tell Clarity that consent has been given so it can begin recording for the user.

User Identification

The Microsoft Clarity API allows identification information to be included as part of the tracking in a secure method. Conversion Bridge has an option that allows you to track users by their user ID which gets hashed before sending to Clarity servers and securely stored. This allows you to see recordings for specific users on your site if you wish you do so.

This feature may have privacy concerns - it is up to you to know if you should enable this feature.
